I've printed photos to a Canon printer(forgot which model-its the one that prints via infra).. @ first it didn't work.. You'll have to leave your phone next to the printer for awhile.. Only then it'll print.. Well, that's the case @ first..

Try not to smooch ur IR port w/ the printer's. I think there should be a minimum range of 3inches. I tried to print thru infrared w/ my p800. At 1st it wont print because it was so close betwn IR ports. Then I moved my phone back about 5inches, the printer started its job. Unfortunately I cant remember what printer it was. Hope this help. Perhaps the reason IR printing doesn't work with the P800 is that what you are in effect doing is SENDING a FILE.

Perhaps, what the printer requires is NOT a file to be sent but a string of codes that is interpreted for printing.

I guess the protocol used by the P800 is not compatible with IR printing.

And if my memory serves me correctly the NOK phones cant print to any IR enabled printer; it's only to some of them (HP printers especially I think)

I'm sure I've printed to an HP inkjet before now. Got a deskjet in work with an IR port - will give it a try tomorrow and report back!

My inf/red doesn't work @ close, med or far range to anything. I tried it again the other day to send a contact to my other phone - no go. Still the bl/toof always works.

Yep same thing, just tried to send stuff to a LaserJet 4050N but no luck. The LED on the printer flashes and the IR activity symbol on the P800 blinks too but after a few seconds the P800 says 'Connect failure' or something.

Did I try it the right way? I tried to send a contact via IR as well as a .txt file. Maybe it's true that there should be a print feature instead of just sending the binary/ASCII file over....

The next time your so called friends laugh at your P800s inability to connect to HP infrared printers, let them know that your highly sophisticated P800 is more than capable of communicatlng with upto 10 bluetooth devices at once, maybe the P800 does'nt like using its ir port with HP printers because the technology is old and only used by misers that cannot afford to invest in a quality phone like the P.
