I have just read on the sonyericsson.com/p900 page that you can easy take pictures at night with it?! It must have a better picture quality than p800. But then is the question about T630......it cant have the same opticlens as P900

The cameras on P900, P800, Nokia 6600 and N3650 are about the same quality give and take on some differences in colour saturation etc...
Ultimately, how well the pictures are taken would depend on how much light is available at the time of picture taking and of course... how much yr hands don't shake during photo shots.
On a bright day, the photos i took with my T610, and 3650 look really good. On a not so good day, the photos looked like it was taken with a different phone....
after all, the cameras are more for fun sake than serious photo taking.

Pixels have everything to do with a camera. The number of (mega)pixels on the camera is the number of the actual light sensetive sensors on the chip. In a 1/1 conversion each sensor (pixel) on the camera chip will be represented by a pixel on the screen.
The camera resolution on T630 is the same as on T610. The VGA resolution is achieved entirely by software (I hope to see this function in the next T610 firmware release)

I'm just wondering how S.E. is going to achieve that without sacrificing details. It's realy just taking a balloon and blowing it more than it's allowable size.
VGA quality definitely requires greater memory inbuilt into phones as the each pixel is equivalent to 1 bit. 640x480 sizes definitely need more memory.
Any conversion would mean adding more into an existing file, so increases the file size. Am I correct?

I am not sure what the color depth of the camera is. (It doesn't have to be the same as the screen color depth (65k))

The image does get compressed with JPeg though, otherwise memory size would be a big problem...
