Sorry but this 7200 is well done. It will be a success. Believe me or not, for a lot of people 4k colours is more than enough and may make the price-difference.
I think a lot of them will be sold. Especially fashionistas.
Sorry about that but not everybody is a SE fan like most of the people here - including me. SE addicts make up how much pct of the population?
The 6230 looks very good. Very good. SE will have to watch its back.
One thoing to keep in mind though: SE phones look better in reality than on pictures; Nokias look better in pictures than in reality. (And: old Nokia's look ... old, old (S)E's look retro.

@ DeLa
Well, the 7200 is way too big... believe me
As to its looks, it's subjective. I like the idea that you can put some soft covers (read fabrics/leather for instance), like on the 7600. It gives a warm touch to a phone. But apart from this, I don't like it. The screen part (inside) is awful for my taste.
But at least, it's original vs. all these silverish looking flips.
You have the same as in a 7210 but in so much more volume...
A larger screen would have compensated for the oversize, but... maybe that will come later

hi guys.. if you check the nokia pages, you'll find out that the 7200 has a 65K display inside and a monochrome outside...
I personally think, that nokia is going in the right direction with the 6230, 7200 & 7700 phones... designwise, hmmm... kind of up to date... and not ugly at all!! i'd really like to see other phones being as stylish as these... not talking about se's, b/c they are really nice (i totally dig the my beloved t610!)
functionwise i was pretty amazed about the 6230... 8mb onboard & extra 32mb memory beside that!! the design can't beat the t610 but it surely will be a better phone... in other words: the 6230 has what t610 should have had...
and i really hope that the people here will be a little objective on their opinion (like it should be with all other things in life

)
anyway, have a pleasant day and cheers!!

The 6230 seems pretty good. Not often I say that about a Nokia
It took Nokia almost a year to create something that competes with SE T610. It will be available in 1Q2004 and T610 has been available since May this year.
It will be intresting to see what SE, Siemens, Samsung etc will release next year.

The 6230 will reach the market in the Q2 2004. That means may/june. At that time SE will have the follow ups to T630/T610 etc on the market. So this is no threat at all. Nokia is lagging behind. They will be forced to confront the T610/T630 with the 7250i for another 6 - 8 months. A confrontation we all now they have already lost. So, lets compare the Nokia lineup from today with what we think SE will present at Cebit in march 2004 because those phones will reach the market at the same time as the 6230.

Sorry people but the 6230 makes the T610 look like a toy:)

For god's sake, stop saying Nokia is lagging behind.
Nokia has already a WCDMA phone on the market (and have had it for a while now). One other coming this quarter. A few EDGE phones on the market, many new ones coming soon (see yesterday). The most popular and highly appreciated mobile phone platform i.e. Series 60. Have sold millions and millions of camera phones worldwide. Have the first mobile gaming device ever made with anything you can think of. Etc etc. Yesterday's releases also add quite much to it, e.g. Series 90 phone with a DVB-H module!

have made good things, but you clearly can't say Nokia is lagging behind them, clearly, or then should just start open your eyes a little bit...
Anyway, this discussion is pointless...

I agree that

phones are superior in function and form in most cases but
I'd like to
release a phone like the Nokia 6230...
The 6230 is the phone I've been waiting for... a mp3 playback capable phone in a candy-bar form... Nokia should have done this a long time ago instead of making a mistake with their 5510 and repeating it with the 3300.
