Tell me you gooses, why the hell would SE release a software upgrade for the p800 to make it function like a p900? Would that be in their best interests? NO. It is a newer model, and I dont think they are gonna make a newer model backwards compatible with an older model. We are talkong about a billion dollar business here, I know that If I were the SE CEO, I wouldnt risk potentially high sales by releasing a software release for an older model to make it function like a newer one. I would Make sure that if previous users liked the new model so much, they would buy it, not hang around like dicks waiting for a friggin emulation sorta thing. I mean, essentially, thats what you guys are after, isnt it? "Oh, its only software". For those who say that, you must be completely phone ilitterate and computer ilitterate. Screens different, ROMS different, blah blah blah. Just sell your p800 and buy a p900 and stop the whinging. If u dont like its look, make a cardboard cutout of a p800 and put it around ur p900, PROBLEM SOLVED

lol
I too am not a fan of this newly "Sony" designed phone rather than by it seems. However, if there is not going to be an update for the P800, I know one of these days I'm going to cave in and sell my wonderful P800 for the new model.

[edit] Well I have just read the review on my symbian ( a bit late I know) and somehow I don't think will be that nice to us to give an update for the P800. Whatever happens though I do want the new features and this means I might need to get a P900 I mean it has an electronic keypad...an electronic keypad!! Ah well yet again I have been drawn in to s flame, but too be honest it's warm in here you should come join me

This is from Se re the p900/p800 upgrade

Dear Christian,

There will be no software upgrade for the P800 to enable P900 features.

There's no reason for SE to provide software upgrade for P800 to P900. No incentives, unless they want to hurt their P900 sales.

Oh no, not again...

Please stop these pointless posts about things that you think or wish would happen. Soon this will turn into a 10-page thread with posts both for and against someones 'certain facts'. (like the MS DUO/pro junk)

Thats probobly cause they sold T68m as an MMS enabled phone
but it was without MMS functionality so they had to give ppl
the opertunity to upgrade it with the latest software.

If they hadn't runned ads saying T68m had MMS they prolly wouldn't
have bothered upgrading them. (My guess)

One reason for them doing this is that it would instantly created a bigger market for developers to write applictions for UIQ 2.1 and Java MIDP 2.0. As it is now, with few handset available, developer have no incentive to write applications for the P900.

I still don't think this is enough of a reason for greedy SE, but some bad press from unhappy P800 owners "may" have a "slight" chance. Certainly better than doing nothing, because then we will get nothing.

Petition for UIQ 2.1 on the P800
