I have spent many an hour pondering your dilemma and here is my solution.
Don't go for either. Instead carry around a large rock in your pocket, this will grant you all the benefits the Nokia would without the embarassment of actually owning one. Not only will it ruin the cut of any jacket it is kept in, it will also allow you to compose messages by allowing you to scratch writing on stonework. It can be used to communicate with anyone you can hit with it as they will surely want to speak to you afterwards. As you can see a large rock packs in all the exciting features found in the Nokia. You can even tie a string around your rock to make sure you are never without it!

i think your better off with SE,
well looking at the features, the only thing i like about it is the fm radio
But when you look at it in the other perspective its just like a remodel of 3650,
The SE px00 has symbian by its side plus UIQ, 7700's streaming features? the p800 got it and also the p900 (p800 u got to install it first) (flash player can also be installed)
well 7700 25meg of internal mem, i dont know
i really like SE better than nokia, nokia have so many models but when you look at the functions and features its all the same (well they just put extra space for phonebook and a new look its a new model, they change the keypad its a new model, but inside its still the same)
we call it a "masa phone" sorry about that

Yet AGAIN the Nokia knowledge of Esato members amazes me.
You say it's just like a remodel of 3650. Let me dissapoint you: it is not. The 7700 is based on the new Series 90 UI (fully comparable to UIQ 2.0/2.1) and Symbian OS 7.0s (you seem to think it doesn't have Symbian at all) which beats the hell out of 3650's Series 60 and Symbian OS 6.1. It has a 640 x 320 65K colour screen against P800's 208 x 320 4K screen. Both have touch sensitivity and handwriting recognition. The 7700 has EDGE which even the P900 lacks. It has 20-25MB internal memory against P800/P900's 12MB. Theoretically both can have up to 1GB of external memory (maximum SD/MMC capacity). The 7700 has a pre-installed RealOne Player, Opera browser, Visual Radio, in-built FM Radio, MP3 player and support for the digital TV receiver add-on. And funnily Nokia said it's not even trying to be a PDA but the first device of their new Media category.
The new Communicator (to be announced in spring) supposedly adds a QWERTY keyboard to all that. You can bash the 7700's looks all you want but you can't underestimate its features like you do with most Nokias (often without even looking at the specs).

I think what you saying is that the Nokia 7700 is an connected entertainment device first, then PDA and finally a traditional mobile / cell phone. The form factor has been designed for this priority - and one would normally use a BT headset and therefore the shape / size is not that critical. I think the 7700 has been designed to held like a portable TV / game device. I hope the 7700 does find its niche, which I think is different from the Pxxx but it is all based on Symbian - rather than that nasty MS stuff!

looks like a joke this phone does. Hopefully SE will bring out the TV tuner Duo. it says on that site that the 7700 supports up to 128Mb SD / MMC cards. and the screen is the same size as p900's apart from the nokia has a higher resolution. But nokia screens are typically dull and cheap so i assume this increased resolution will bring it up to p900 quality. also being permanently wisde screen i imagine writing wont be as easy as it is on holding a vertical p900.
lastl my god that is one ugly design! and i bet its HUGE!
