@coolfighter

You shouldn't complain about not getting any new features in the P800. The P800 still has the features that it had when you bought it, and it's still very usable. SE is mostly very generous when it comes to software upgrades and new features. But it's not like they are doing charity work. The P900 is different from the P800 not only beacuse of some hardware differences but also because of some new software features. It's a new product, you can't expect to get these features in the old P800.

You have to live with the fact that new products will come. It's not like for example Microsoft will give you a their new OS for free just beacuse you bought an older version. Sure they will continue to provide updates/software fixes and maybe minor new features, but they are not giving you the features of the new OS. SE works in the same way.

BTW.. where did you get the impression that SE would promise free updates for life with the P800 as you stated in the last sentence of you original post

O yes. Go ahead and buy the O2 XDA II. In a shorter time than the P800>P900 period, the XDA III is gonna get the XDA II dumped as well...

sad ain't it? If you think SE is bad, try a Nokia. They dumped just about any of their models in a few months time...

This is another case of T68i syndrome.

Just because T68m's were upgraded to t68i standard, people seem to think it'll happen to every phone.

But the difference with the T68m -> T68i story is that the T68m didn't have all the promised features when it was launched. So the upgrade to T68i software was promised when you bought the phone (although nobody new of the T68i back then, but the features were promised).

The P800 was launched with all the promised features on it. This is a different thing altogether.

And yes look at Nokia.. 7250 -> 7250i

yes i think 'dumped' is not really accurate a description. the P800 is still upgradable (to some extent, i know) but not totally dumped. like what someone said... there is still a long life ahead, for the "'old' 1-year-old dog". and we can't stop technology's progress for the sake of the 'old dog'. yes we have to accept that fact.

and you're far way better than being a nokia owner ...where next month is definitely your phone's death, and no significant OS upgrade available to save it.

I own a P800 which I bought simfree in UK for £500 in June. Do I feel cheated or hard done by? No. Does the phone still do EXACTLY what it did in June of this year? Yes. Do I feel has dumped me? Not at all...they gave me a great phone which I use everyday for my business and which has made me so much more productive! Thanks for a great P800 and keep developing newer and better models as fast as you can. By the time I am due to replace my P800 (in about 18 months time) there should be an even better model around!!
