Because that's the way that the designers and engineers made the phones! Nokia did it one way, SE did it another. Who Knows why they chose to make the signal meter that way? Does it really matter?

What exactly did SE say then? Sorry, but I'm an electronics engineer by trade and I'd be intrigued to read the entire email that they sent you. Apart from anything, nobody said that the signal indicator was 'more sensitive', we said that it has a higher refresh rate and uses a real time system rather than an average value over a period time. A 'more sensitive' meter would have more bars, i.e. it would detect smaller changes in signal strength and represent them appropriately.

Everybody knows that you won't get a real answer from SE trough mail, the guys who are replying are not engineers !!!!

This thread will be again locked because of you

they just said "our phones signal receptor indicator arent more sensitive then others as i know, thanks for contacting us bla bla"

but you said higher refresh rate.... yes yes yes but sometimes it goes down to the red zone and then up to "normal" zone in a couple of seconds, thats why i thought that it was something wrong with it in the begining.

i have a brand new Z600 you see... at the moment i have full reception without fluctuations, thats because my phone is on my desk and not moving around

Does not exist some way to increase the reception of signal? because it already tries with one of those adhesives that say to increase to the signal but single increase like 10%

Dana, just to get you stop asking this silly question.

It's all about the software in the phones and the programmer. In SE phones they have a higher refreshrate on the signal strength meter and in other brands they have slower. So thats why you can see it moving up and down all the time and with other brands you dont.

And the moving up and down are only because the radio signal to and from the station can be blocked by walking close to a building (lower signal) or open areas (often better signal).

Hope this answer is enough as there are NO other explanation to your silly question. The phone works doesn't it?

rrojas260, you can't manually change it. It depends on how the operator has set it in the cell's. Some cells have EFR, others have HR and FR...
