I drove my dads BMW whilst learning. Company car so free insurance

I found it very helpful learning in a big car, meant i had to be more careful, so when getting into a small car it was really easy to do the manouvers and park etc.

I now drive my mums Golf bought new in 2001, very nice car. Would recomend one to even learn in. But I still take the BM out when I go to my dads.

Don't you have to be 21 to get the free insurance? My mate wanted one that's all.

I was gonna say a JCB but lets be serious here for the poor lad.

have you got a HGV Licence yet?

Novas are kinda respectable and cheap to Insure, Seat Ibiza (NOT GTi like mine) are great cars and they too are quite cheap to insure, mines a GTi (as mentioned) and its a group 10 insurance!! AND its got the same engine as the Golf GTi aswell...

Good luck mate.

insurance groups are used basically to sort the good cars from the rubbish ones

basically i think there are 20 groups, starting at group 1 all the way upto 20!
a car is put in a group depending on the cars engine size, stealability and cost i think. The higher the group.. the more youll have to pay.
