When they were in beta stage they also released some UIQ versions which rocked...well until SmartMovie came out which totally kicked their ass for my money. DivX/Xvid is superior to Mobiclip in picture quality, sound quality, file size and it is not a proprietary format. The only thing Mobiclip was better in was that it could play back video files at 24fps smoother than any other video player but i rather go for a fluent 15fps DivX movie with good picture and MP3 sound than for a hugely-sized Mobilcip movie with 24fps and stuttering sound.

Don't forget that it is free, and it gave us almost 30 fps. Indeed, it use a proprietary format, baut anyway: it's good enough! Does anybody knows if latest versions of Mobiclip support stereo sound?

MP3 is not good at all when going for low bitrate, hate it
Is there a way to combine XviD and lets say MPEG-4/AAC audio?

I encoded some music videos with Xvid and Lame MP3 codec for SmartMovie and the sound turned out to be very satisfying, even in stereo. Itīs all a matter of bitrate and the quality of your source. When I encode music videos I lay the focus on good sound with 80kbps and ok picture while itīs the other way around when Iīm converting movies.

And yes, Mobiclip was for free. But nonetheless itīs a commercial software and sonner or later either the users will get charged for the player or the content providers will get for the converter. So I donīt see any advantage compared to SmartMovie. And donīt forget that SmartMovie is a complete fully functional product and not a beta player that doesnīt even allow basic controls like skipping etc.
