hello
i use my p900 off with the flip. because it looks smarter and its lighter and thinner and i find texting easy even when walking and i can make calls using the fvirtual flip easy enough i am just talented i suppose.

Your post describes the most practical reason why the P900 should be set apart from most mobile phones in its class (i.e. mobile phone/pda). I have been swearing by this since the release of the P800. Tons and tons of pda/mobile phones either offer a hardwired keypad or no keypad at all. Mobile phones are intended to be used on the go so it does make sense to have a keypad that can easily be handled during an activity. I thought the ability to simply flip down the keypad for pda access was genius. Innovative and practical. That's why I don't believe cases (i.e. Vaja) that only cater to the pda feature is practical.
Here’s the ultimate flip-on, flip-off test: Try dialing a phone # on your P900 with your eyes closed? I don’t think flip-off phone users would know where to stick that stylus at all. With flip-on at least you can always feel for that dimple on the center button (“5”) and maneuver your way to the adjacent buttons.
Imagine a scenario (dark/vision impaired from surroundings) whereby everyone depended on you to get help because you were the only person with a working mobile phone, but you couldn’t dial out simply because you couldn’t figure out where to tap the stylus. Wouldn’t that be a bummer.

I didn't know neon lights could clear up an imparied vision.
BTW - These are true stories, but I guess you'll never think of yourself in these situation until you're there.
- 21 kids died at a night club (trampled), but those that survived were able to dial for help even though they couldn't open their eyes to see where they were going or the people they were stepping on because of pepper spray that was flooded the 2 level club with one open exit.
- A lady was kidnapped, blind folded, hands bound and thrown in a trunk, but the kidnapper didn't think to check her bag for a phone. However, she managed to pull out the phone from the bag while her hands where tied behind her back and dialed 9-1-1. That phone saved her life simply because she was able to feel where to press the buttons.
Or imagine a sudden release of tear gas in a train car and you're vision becomes totally impaired. How much help could you be with no flip on that Pxxx?

That was a good one.
I personally think the phone looks "COOLER" with the flip attached also.
You've got the brightly illuminated screen on the upper half and then the keypad with the funky blue lighting, A La Kitt in "Knight Rider".
