The message is not a hoax. There are these people that pretend to be working at a cellphone company. They have a SIM card cloning device which can clone your SIM card and make it possible for them to make phone calls that will be charged to your account. However, the only way for them to clone your SIM card is if you press a specific combination of two numbers and a #. Do not ignore the message, just tell them to f**k off and hang up on them. This happened to a lot of people here in Cyprus, so I know.

This is an old scam that was out a few years ago...
You'd phone a big company, pretend you're an phone engineer and ask them to press a certain key combination. Unwittingly this transferred through the pabx so that they can then dial any number they so whished.
But I can't see how it can be done on a mobile...
And I definitely can't see anyone cloning your sim card over a call

Only way to clone someones SIM is to get its IMSI number which can be done by special device which simulates base station. They put it somehere near you and your phone registers to it instead to a real BS and they get your IMSI. But that device is very expensive so it is very unlikkely that someone has it...

They are full of it, you CAN'T do over the air cloning, it could be done with analogue phones.

It's a hoax, a well known one at that...

Above explains it all. I think it did once hold some weight a very long time ago with an internal system (either used in a corporation or by the US army or something) but it was purely an internal scam and can't affect any of us.
