@linkinpark17uk "I would vote for Coldplay Yellow. "

Could you explain better to me the appeal of this song please dude, i would love to know what people see in it.

I would have to disagree with you so much there, i'm a true believer in the fact that coldplay need putting out of their misery. They obviously want to commit suicide (from the tone of all their music) if i was going to hang myself i may play that track.

Now i know this is only my opinion but a truly good track is one that can change your mood within the first 5 seconds of the track. That is change it for the better. A tune which can make everything seem a million miles away, and bring a big smile, no matter how sad you are.

Now I know most wont agree with this but system F Out of the blue is my all time biggest mood changing song, i grin from ear to ear.

I have loads of others which do the same but do not wish to list them here for fear of ridicule.

wildmurphy, I'm guessing you're not a fan of Radiohead either.

like so many bands, radiohead were much better early in their career. coldplay, although good, is over-rated (or at least over-exposed....is anyone familiar with the term saturation airplay? any merit their work had is dissolved by the fact it gets played every other minute).

it's interesting that whenever someone compiles a "best ever" list, their most recent faves always manage to sit near the top and then drop the following year. anything that is "best ever" would have to be something which pioneered a genre or defined a generation, or even means something deeply personal and significant to you. my other criteria would be "must be at least written, and preferably performed, by a person and not a computer" - i.e. it must require talent. hence a large portion of the current crop of so-called hits falls well short.

among my favourites, in no particular order, would be:

nirvana
the beatles
the doors
the sharp (aussie band from the early 90s)
the screaming jets (another aussie band).
john farnham (aussie singer)
queen

this list is by no means exhaustive because even average bands can stumble upon works of genious, but those above were fairly consistent.

I'm not a fan of radiohead no - but i dont have such bad feeling towrds their music, its just coldplay, they really do make me want to kill myself, all their singing about how hard done to he is and how much it rains on him. It cant be that be he gets to shag Ms Paltow i think, and has loads of dosh. Tell me thats not worth smiling about.

I might even go so far as to say the bloke is a talentless arse, preying on the fact that loads of people think their lives are crap and buy his records because it makes them feel they arent alone.

NEWSFLASH Mr Coldplay - you could be an ethiopian, an Iraqi, or maybe even a (look out) woman.

Now then you could whinge about stuff.

Radiohead arent too bad tho.

Any michelle McAnus fans here?
