A couple of months back when I was selling some celfone gadgets in Asia's first and only 'free' ads tabloid - Buy & Sell, I came accross about 2 out of the 60 respondents who's celfone number 'didn't' appear on the screen of my phone, and guess what, their fone is a Nokia . . .

there are a few sites that will send internationally, without the advertising suffix that many free services add to the msg. I've used
www.bulksms.com in the past - you buy say a block of 50 credits, and if you know even a little PHP/PERL/ASP (they have sample scripts you can hack), you can control the sender ID of the SMS amongst other things. Even if you don't know these languages, the web interface at the site might now allow you to do the same without tech knowhow. Another plus is that you can replace the normally numeric ID with any alphanumeric string up to 11 characters - "GUESSWHO" or whatever. I'm sure there are other sites out there that do the same thing too (I'm not affiliated with these guys or anyone else for that matter!)
