Could be anything from conflicting colours to saving your images in a wrong format (like saving in progressive mode). Hard to tell without the actual theme.

If you are looking for a T6xx theme creator you could try http://www.pfym.co.uk - a web-based application (no apps or plugins to download/install, just upload a picture and you're good to go) put together by myself.

A large number of options have been added recently, so if you tried it before give it another look.

It'll never do everything you can do with ThemeCreatorPro but thats by design - it is intended to be almost automatic for most themes and that level of automation means losing some effects you can do by hand.
