I think it is utterly senseless that no handset manufacturer has bothered to implement this simple yet extremely handy feature in their handsets while at the same time everyone is busy implementing useless garbage like mobile games, high res cameras with flash, music players and what have we not into their phones..

As I dont have a P series Im not sure if its the same as my K600 but when in the phonebook/call list, if you press the 'more' key you get the option to 'edit before call'. You could put the 9 in that way.
I get the feeling you want something to do it automatically though but thought this might help.
