Bookmark topic
I suppose another date that could be considered is when Esato was obviously considered as a serious possibility, i.e. when
www.esato.com was first registered as a domain. that was 09-aug-2000
maybe thats the true birth date of Esato?

it was
April 24th 2001 that Sony and Ericsson announced an intention to join together and
October 1st 2001 that the operation actually started

well... without wishing to start up the whole "what does Esato mean" again, since we already have several threads for that, I will just quote a couple of posts from those threads....
laffen did say...

He, he...
It's funny how some topics seem to come back over and over.
Let's get this straight right away:
Esato does actually not mean any thing. He announced that himself at the Esato
gathering we had here in Norway this spring. It's just a 5 letter word that is easy to say in most languages and just happened to be avalable as a .com domain at the time. Where he got it from as still a unanswered question.
Only Take A Sony Ericsson is a meaning that came later, wether it was Laffen or a member who came up with it I'm not sure of. But Laffen has accepted it as the meaning of the name.
Just for the record Laffen is Norwegian.
so in my opinion tranquil was right with what he said about it originally meaning nothing, but since "Only take a Sony Ericsson" fits, it was adopted by laffen

esato started with the first GPRS enabled ericsson phones in mind, r520 and the t39. At first you didn't have to register to post, but I've been on this board for quite a while. still don't have 500 posts, so I'm a bit slow....
@ superunknown - I thought you had me beat by 8 days, but then I noticed, I was on this board almost a year before you!
