Vlam,

When you get your new phone (if it's in a service center), they automatically put it on your account, via the IMEI number. Did you know that when you get a new phone and your carrier doesn't know, (E-bay, from a friend, etc.), that they still register your old phone? Whenever you get a new phone (not from the service center), you are actually supposed call in to your carrier and inform them that you have a new phone and give them your IMEI number?

This is how the replacement and warranties and all that stuff works. You ever notice how when you have a problem with your phone and you call your carrier, if you don't mention what kind of phone you have, they seem to know? This is why. Seriously. If your phone got stolen, then they would block the last known IMEI that you have on your account. This is why you have to constantly update them on what type of phone you have, and the IMEI number.

Anyways, back to the main question. SE is doing this because the T68i is getting sort of old and outdated (I know, I know, it can still kick most of the phone's @$$'s that are being offered now). The T226 sucks, so they can afford to just give it away. I mean, think about it. You know how people on Esato are always saying "Well, since I've been a loyal customer for so long, they (the person's carrier) just let me have the discount for the phone."?

Well, I think that they figure that if you have been a loyal customer long enough to still have the T68i around, it's time for a change. True the T226 kind of sucks compared tot the T68i, but it is a newer model. I personally like how small and sleek it looks, but it has no Bluetooth, no IR, and no 65k color screen (though it does have a color screen. The only thing it does have is polyphonic ringtones, and those CANNOT compare to the T616's ringers.

I think it's naive to asume that loyal customers that have not purchased a phone in 2 yrs (or so?) get free phones and loyal customers that purchase the latest model all the time get nothing

as for my phone, the intermediary company with whom I have a contract have my details, and Vodafone most likely also has my details as I use their network and services.

The shop where I bought it sure has my details as they needed to ship the phone.

I have genuine doubt as to whether netherlands have my details, because on the rare occassion that I do call them, i usually ned to tell them everything

Eh, who knows. But they won't have your details if you got a new phone and didn't tell them.

yes, but as I got the phoe with a whole new contract and everything through official dealers, I would think I do not need to tell them

Oh oh, sorry, wasn't paying attention there. Yes, as you got the phone that way, they would have all of your details. Sorry.

That's not always true. If someone doesn't give us the IMEI it will often come up as COAM (customer owned and maintained) and not show the model.

This card has nothing to do with AT&T WS. It is from SE. SE has no reason to give me a free phone for being loyal, because I don't pay them for service. AT&T would offer me nothing for being a loyal customer because I'm not a customer, I'm an employee who doesn't pay for service. We pay full price for phones.

Ok, I don't have access to a scanner at this point, but here's the link that's on the card.

Huh, so apparently the offer is only good for AT&T Wireless US service. I see. And when I looked at the Comparison page, it didn't make me very convinced that I'd like the phone (if I didn't already have the T616).
