you need to download a language pack from
www.sonyericsson.com in the global support area for you version of phone. Download the file and install the American Language files through the Pc suite and USB cradle then install the xp icon set. Change the language uder control panel - lananguage. The phone will restart and the new icons will be there. There are games and app on there if you want any as well.

i got the language pack but its takin up > 1MB of disk space ?? and moreover i cant uninstall the earlier default lanfuage version that is UK english!
secondly doesnt the Iconset change the icons of the battery and the network display ? is there a iconset which can chage that as well?

you don't need to uninstall anything. just unpack the *.zip file where all language files are (as for me it is so - i've downloaded the landuage pack archive from sony ericsson). then double click on something like
'american english (cxc162001 r2a).sis' and install it as usual. then install the language pack as usual. restart the phone. go to control panel, language selection; select american english from the list, restart p800 as it will ask you to do. enjoy these icons which btw can look much better =)...
and yes there is no iconpack to change the battery or net icons probably because the level to access 'em is too low, around firmware or something that's why you can't do that even on p900!
the language pack takes around 1mb for each language... you can't remove the default uk english language... that's all.
