Same dumb problem on Vodafone UK. Maybe someone could write a bit of software to interpret the voicemail SMS and change it into a vm icon? Then it would delete this icon once you dial the voicemail number (121 here)?

fyi, I'm on GSM900 Azercell provider here, in Azerbaijan, and I DO RECIEVE 2 separate icons for Voicemail and SMS correspondingly.
As for voicemail icon, it is indeed operator dependent, cuz I've been recieving sms notifications only until 2004. But since january I'm getting this cassette-envelope icon everytime I have a voicemail. The interesting thing is that this message is not stored anywhere. I've been trying to locate it in my phone couple times, like, not dialing voicemail immediately (which means that this icon stays) and browsing thru sms, picture, cell broad. and all other possible places in my phone.. no success so far
Anyways, hope I've clarified some issues so far

jaykay - thanks. I've always wondered if there are any GSM 900 networks that support CPHS. There's no technical reason why they can't, but here in Europe they all date back to before CPHS and simply don't bother to update their equipment.
