As an analog, consider
400K and 800K floppy disks from years past. Before there was ever an 800K disk,
if someone asked "is there a hardware limit that prevents access to an 800K
floppy?" How do you answer that?
Well if they had implemented them by just
doubling data density, maybe not. But implementing them by changing technology
and requiring a sensor to detect if a particular slot on the casing was open or
closed, who would have guessed?
So, no way I can answer the question. We'll
just have to wait and see when one comes out.
