Well, you can already buy a linux system off the shelf, and much cheaper as its just a normal x86 without the windows software, and software supporting all the devices you mentioned is already available free for linux. But as for having a decent user interface i don't think you could ever describe xwindows, gtk, or any me the similar linux setups as 'user friendly'. :-) This message was posted from a T610

Sorry to disagree, but no it aint! It's there for SOME devices should you wish to download it from the net, but it aint on the installation disks.

I can totally believe Mr Gates' statement that hardware will be free.

Because MS will subsidise the cost of ALL of the hardware, then tie it in to run only MS software, which we'll get charged an arm, leg, kidney and bone marrow for.

Probably.

In other related news/topic with Gates and his Microsoft empire, I'm sure that 'lawsuits' after 'lawsuits' will be filed against him in the coming years to come with regards to his 'Windows' - OS and it's scheme of monopolizing the entire computer system! As can be seen in the news during the recent past years, I guess there has never been an instance in the past where a single case was not filed against his Microsoft Company! Good thing though is, Gates is still very much afar from some of his closest rivals in the Software market, like that of Oracle's Larry Ellison!
