Should rather be assembled in France as all hardware is made in Developing countries.
Take computer hardware for instant. One factory in thailand makes Ram blocks. They are then transported to 3 different suppliers which all put different stickers and different prices on them.
Tis' the way business goes in todays world.

my side panels squeak too...

My P900 is assembled in France, I can't imagine there being any difference between the Chinese and French assembled P900s, apart from being assembled in different countries!

It should say where it is made under the battery on the sticker with the imei number on it.

Well the qaulity is the same for all markets.Being a top end phone all of them are made in france.I have been calling the SE head here and troubling about the K700i and I asked him today also he said P900 is made in france.
The parts come from all over the world.
