What is it about the P9 that you're considering spending an extra $500 on? I'm sure some ppl on here can tell u if that specific reason is worth it! What do u want to use them for?

If you ar waching videos and pictures -then go for a p900 -he has a much better screen! -but it isnt so much diffrence at all -just the look (for example the themes in the p900) and yes p900 doesnt crash and froze -that the p800 does! -btw i am gettin a p900 on the internet 4 about 763usd at www.no-air-time.com -check that out and get a cheaper p900:-D

I have both & I think the P9 is better in every way.
-Looks and feels considerably better
-Noticeably smaller
(u really notice these differences if u go back to use the P8)
-Much nicer stylus
-Better handwriting
-Better screen & colours (especially for pictures & vids & wheh u compare the 8&9 together)
-Better video playback
-Better Camera
-More stable
-Better UI thanks to themes
-Better use of the jogdial in apps
-Better Bluetooth functionality (My P8 fails in sending so often)
-MP3 ringtones
-Better music player app
-Better MMS interface
-Nice shortcuts in SMS to smileys & EMS etc
-Actually good looking & pratically useful flip
-T9
-More internal memory
-Larger standard MS-Duo
shall I go on...
As for the price, look for some 2nd hand ones on here. There are top quality phones & people u can trust. This is where I got mine.

agreed. I got mine here too! and I've already had a P900 longer than I could stand to have the P800 and am much happier with its stability and also for many of the reasons you just listed

Personally, I'm happy with my p8 and t630. I'm not gonna splash a load of cash on a p9. I'm gonna waith for the next incarnation of the p series. Or I might just buy an s700 when they come out

Should I change my P900 for a P800? By reading all these posts it seems that this is the way to go.

all the people suggesting the P9 is more stable - are you comparing it to current firmware P8's, or the older models which you maybe had? I only ask because it's impossible for the P9 to be any more stable than my six month old P8 with R2F firmware. Put simply, it does not crash, at all, ever. I've never seen a yellow triangle (only read about them here), and it's never had to reboot to "improve performance". It's actually more reliable than the T68 it replaced..

These phones are like small computers (PC) . We have to compare the hardware and software portion of each.
On the hardware side the most notable improvement of the P900 is the better screen resolution . So if you are planning to use the camera a lot and view pictures or videos with your phone the better screen resolution of the P900 is an advantage. As for me this is not a big factor because my usage of my P800 is almost entirely for reading i.e. Surfing the net and reading ebooks/eNEws. Personally, I find the camera feature of the present crop of phones to be inadequate. I still prefer using a real camera like my OLympus c765uz.
I will not comment on the looks because IMO this is subjective '' beauty is in the eyes of the beholder''. So it is up to you.
Now on the software portion this is where the P900 and the P800 are the same. 3rd party software or applications for the P900 are likewise compatible for the P800. And you have to appreciate that this is where you find the brilliance of these phones. The power lies behind the knowledge and understanding of the user on what applications to install to maximize use of the phone.
Just like your PC, when you buy it, it only comes with the basic operating system and software ... some would only have the OS. It is up to you the user to install the the 3rd party software and configure it to unleash the full potential of your PC.
So an ignorant user of a P900 who does not know how to put all this together will not have a better phone as compared to a knowledgeable P800 user who is familiar with applications. A nice analogy that l can think of is; You may own an expensive Callaway golf set but if you are a high handicapper, a scratch player using a cheap set will run circles around your game.
In short if you are like me who does more reading than viewing pictures with my phone, you are better off buying a cheaper P800 and using the extra money to buy applications (i.e. Quickoffice, Mobipocket reader, dictionary, tracker, worldmate, handy expense, ezitap, etc.) and accessories (i.e. Bluetooth headset, wireless keyboard, 128mb memory stick duo , extra battery, etc.) to improve the performance of your phone. You can also continue reading the posts in Esato and similar forums to aquire more knowledge and be a better phone user.
After doing this your accessorized and application loaded P800 will definitely have more features as compared to a basic P900 for the same cost more or less.
Off course, this is just my humble opinion.
