yes, take a look at the official memory stick site
http://www.memorystick.com
there you can see what products are compatible with memor stick, memory stick PRO, memory stick duo and memory stick duo PRO
anyway, in there it mentions several times
With a theoretical maximum capacity of 32GB specified by the format for the same external dimensions as present media, Memory Stick PRO media provides the capacity sufficient for rich broadband content, including high-resolution still images, high-quality music data*1 and MPEG2-compliant, DVD-quality moving images.
btw, there is a
press release there where earlier this year sandisk announce they now have 2Gb memory stick PRO

no, sorry, I didn't say duo PRO, just PRO. Although they share the same architecture, duo PRO size increases will always lag behind the standard size PRO. 512mb is the largest duo PRO so far

This is where I get confused as well. In the Presentation video that is on this website the guy FROM SE says, "here is the memory card slot, which can support up to 1GB"
He says nothing about it being Mem stick Duo/DUO pro/Normal/Normal pro/Magic gate or anything, just it can support up to 1GB.
Yes the official press release says mem stick duo, so maybe just maybe they will release a mem stick duo 1GB. It will cost a lot though
I think sadly it is going to be a case of wait and see

@ Dyce
you are absolutely right, the SE rep clearly says in that video up to 1GB!
We will have to see exactly which format of Memory Stick this refers to.

I assume the price for the 1GB MC is bigger than the price of the phone
