that's only for carriers that ATTWS has a roaming agreement with AND, and it is controlled roaming. Its NOT roaming on any carrier, rather, its "whereever you are allowed to roamn, there will be no charges"
Wrong wrong wrong!!!
We can roam on
anyone and never get charged. Don't post what you don't know!
whatever... go over to howardforums.com and you will see that the GSM America is not this fairy tale.

Yes, it is. I roamed a while ago in Michigan, up by Canada, using something called "Einstein". When checking my bill, I saw that this time (at least 4 hours) was not billed, but registered as my included minutes.

They still can't beat T-Mobile's customer service.

When I bought my new T616 about a month ago (and ditched
Verizon) ALL the majour carriers were bragging about "no roaming charges" nation-wide and "add a second line for $9.99". We went with Cingular. Only prob we have is occasional dropped calls-- especially when my husband is at his office in the outskirts of east Houston. We are hoping that AT&T or Cingular add some more towers in that area...... Unless anyone else knows of some tricks.

Yeah, good trick is to switch to T-Mobile. For real. AT&T/Cingular's coverage is crap in houston. HWY 59 has horrible service. T-Mobile i can actually pick up reception and make calls even in kingwood. East/Southeast houston has great service with T-Mobile.

@ t68iNWO:
Teen-Mobile (aka T-mobile) unfortunaely doesn't have the coverage nation-wide that I need for the travel I do with my job. Other than the Baytown area of Houston, coverage seems great on Cingular. Anyhoo, I'm stuck with Cingular for the next 2 years.

News update.. Cingular and T-mo's deal has broken off.. In order for Cingular to be able to complete the purchase of AT&T, they have to sell their 1900 mhz network to T-mobile. The deal is just about done ($2.5 billion). Customers will not be affected at all as Cingular will still be using the 1900 mhz network for the next 4 years while they use most of this money to improve on AT&T's 850mhz network in the west... not bad... not bad at all...
