LMAO we say again 128mb is the biggest memory card that will ever work on the p900/800...
Think that should be on a pinned thread lol

sorry for nagging, but in the same post one of you is saying it's not possible to use 128mb< cards at the moment and one of you is saying that will never be possible at all. Which is correct? Is it a firmware or hardware problem?

geez, why don't you put that the p800/900 only supports upto 128 meg duo's in the domain name too, or have a javascript box pop up saying this, that way, we won't have to see this question again next week

Has Se limited memory to 128 due to low processor speed of p900. won't it work well if higher memory stick is used in the p900?
cheers

fanditha, the memory limit has NOTHING to do with the CPU speed of the P800/900, which is clocked at 156Mhz (Chip is actually a 200, but would drain power too much if clocked at full speed)
The 128MB limit is the inherent design limit of the MEMORY STICK technology. Even the standard memory sticks are limited to 128MB... and no, the
stupid sticks with the switch in the back doesn't count because it's just 2 regular 128MB Duos with a hardware switch to switch between the 2 chips.
That's why Sony came up with the "Pro" line. Older MS devices can't use the newer PRO line. That simple.
The only reason we're all stuck with a crappy 128MB limit is because of the merger. If SE wasn't locked down to Sony's primitive memory technology, we'd all be using SD cards like the ORIGINAL Ericsson Communicator prototype.

of course, none of this explains why

didn't implement duo pro into the P900 as part of the changes from the P800, considering duo pro has been out long enough for them to have done that, but they didn't so that is the end of it.

OK, now that we know it's a hardware thing there's no point in waiting for the right firmware. But somebody's mentioned a 2X128mb card and I'd like to know who makes them cos i've been having trouble finding it.
Oh, and if any of you guys is using it, have you experienced any problems with it.
