but when you're driving a truck, the boot is a little hard to find

i suggest in that case keeping it under the seat. the chassis stays cool and the sun won't beat down on it.
as for leather, that heats up VERY fast. i can barely hold my steering wheel in the summer! plus i hate cases and holders, hides the phone's beauty.
