Don't use a magnet!!! liquid crystal displays (LCDs) react to magnetic fields in a similar way to electric ones. Could bugger the display (I assume the magnet would have to be way strong though). Anyways, just a word of warning.

Don't think drilling'll work: lt's the end of the jack (i.e. the last bit of metal - they're seperated by plastic isolatars) and drilling'll prolly permanently fcuk up the phone... otherwise a call to the insurance guys is coming up...

my mate got it out by drilling in a bit. sony md. and it worked. youll need a vice and 2 blocks of foam. id do it. r u near london?

If you damage your jack, or dont feel like doing it yourself, you should take your phone to a Sony Ericsson Service Point. They should be able to install a new headphone jack into your phone. It is an easily removed part.
