I was hoping that the Pxxx would have a clean utility similar to that of WinXP whereby the utility alerts one of low storage space and finds and deletes obsoleted files. I had issues with maintaining space and I made the error of deleting my program uninstall sis files. I had to master reset, but that's similar to formatting a pc drive just to clear space and have to do it again possibly in the near future.
One area that does store a lot of clutter is the browser cache folder. A lot of programs that simply utilizes the GPRS data stream seems to dump their temporary files into the browser cache folder. So that might be a place all P900 users may want to explore. Simply go to your OEM SE browser and empty out the cache folder. I found about 1.9mb of junk files lurking in there. Being that I never used the OEM browser it was clear to me that other GPRS data grabbing software were dumping their temp files there. With that said SE should keep that in mind that its OS is storing miscellaneous data gathered from GPRS connections into its browser cache folder. That I would say is a function of the OS file handling system rather then the software programing design.
Ofcourse the browser like Opera will dump temporary files into its cache folder, but I noticed an attrition in drive space after I started using this weather program that was getting weather updates through GRPS. The actual program's folder had no temporary file. The developer told me that they didn't design the program to dump the data into a specific folder. The same thing happened with a couple GPS software that I was testing in addition to an IM type program. I lost about 1mb of data from my drive space and had no clue as to where they had dissapeared from or to. So I guess that's where the UIQ OS takes control over the file handling system and allocates the programs junk files to the browser cache.
Some one check that out and let me know how much junk they can find in their OEM browser's cache folder. I'm curious to know whether it is allocating temp files from non-GPRS dependent software to the browser cache as well.
