there is indeed a group of folks on Ebay that place enormous bids on 'fishy' auctions, with approval from Ebay admins, to prevent anybody else from actually buying the item and getting scammed.

i can't see how he put an extra 0 in as he bidded from £1,000 to £20,000. Bit weired how the bidders and the seller both have 0 feedback, and the second highest bidder isn't even a member of ebay anymore
