I think that's because T68 was intended as a mid level business phone while T230 is entry level color phone with MMS.

I agree but I have a number of friends and acquaintances who couldn't care less about ir or bt.
mostly, their concern is calling and texting and some occasional MMS. When they ask my opinion I always mention that a t230 doesn't have bt or ir.

My wife uses
t230 and really likes it. I think it is great value considering you get the mca30 with it. I paid 79.99 uk pounds for it new at The Link on o2 pay and go.
