Got this reply to an email I sent Killer Mobile asking about Auto Pilot for the Px00s:

It's been abandoned for the time being. Someone who works for SE finnally
came out and said that the functionality to create such an app was
intentionally left out of the UIQ OS.
Sorry =(
They were our best hope AFAIK, so I think that's probably the end of that.

SE left it out because of potential lawsuits.
If they allow the phone to record while in a call, then poeple can develop apps to record phone conversations - break potential privacy laws, etc, etc.. blah blah - ending up with SE being sued for not making sure people couldn't do this.
Kinda Stupid...

*why* the facility is not available has been discussed at great length, and both SE and other manufacturers have the facility in some of their phones.
It's a pain, and the loss of a nice feature, but like a number of other "problems" with SE handsets it's just the way it is. Dont expect it to change.

i would think if you used a wired earpiece mike combo and spliced in an output from your earpiece you could use a small tape recorder if needed to get the otherside of the conversation? i believe that a couple of years ago an answer phone was built in to a mobile phone ( cant remember the make ) but all line provider companies would not sell the product as it denied them voicemail income. there a lots of good ideas out there that wont ever hit the shelves cos the service providers would lose out. one saver they can't stop yet is.. it is cheaper to send an email with a small picture attatchment over GPRS and a normal sms text, than it vis to send an MMS picture message. so you send an email and a text to tell the receiver to check their email. easy. best thing is to set up a separate email account for your phone so that you are not downloading headers you don't want as the header has to be paid for too as GPRS is charged by the meg.
