Guys he's not saying he hates the phone or anything he's just pointing out an obvious flaw. What makes it really annoying is that it would be sooo easy for se to implement these things. I'm more disappoited because i'd like to see se selling more and more and these Features can only add to sales. But i'll be buying the k700 despite these features not being added to the listed of other added features. BRING ON THE K700 This message was posted from a T610

@Vlamm is definitely right about energy saving. If it was possible to set animated GIF as a screensaver, SE would have a headache with users telling the standby time is awfully short! This message was posted from a R520

I guess ure not really missing out on ure problem wit the screen saver (most mobiles on any manufacturer don't let you choose a .gif as your screen saver. But i'd be annoyed with the java problem. Most people are programming full proper java applications so there's less of a variety for you to choose from. This message was posted from a Nokia

I once wished it were feasible for my six-ten to have expandable memory (hihi!) and so more features. But then again, it's what makes the T610 a T610.

As Vlamm says it's about saving energy and i, for one, don't use a screensaver as i don't need to watch my phone all the time.I need the clock as a screensaver and it's a feature i use it. As joyntif says, these r hardly probems...java...don't use it, sms-melodies, don't use 'em.Those 5 r enough and they r quite diff'rent.

I tried to measure the energy consumption with fma, but it looks like fma does not suit that task. However I've got some numbers:
standby mode + light: 82 mA
animated gif + light: 82 mA
clock screensaver + light:81 mA
clock screensaver w/o light: 7mA
standby w/o light: 8 mA.

And I conclude, that using animated gif without light would not be so
energy expensive.
