Now it would be interesting to find out what pop servers work and what pop servers don't. Does it have anything to do with some kind of authentication or perhaps IIS settings?
The ones that worked for me are:
pop.gmx.net
student.tbm.tudelft.nl
which didn't work:
pop.dse.nl
pop.plankenkoorts.com
perhaps the software version does matter. Someone with R2A025 with the strang "some pop servers work" problem?

i had this prob in the UK
i use my blueyonder pop3 email on the O2 netwrk here, i cud receive fine but not send due to smtp errors
so i cleverly
have used o2's smtp IP as my outgoing server and my mails send fine
so i wud say 2 the guy who cant send mails wit his 3 accounts, use your sp smtp IP as your outgoing server n u shud fine prob solved
