i agree p900 is alot faster. i really noticed the difference when opening apps which use large amounts of RAM like tube pro and opera.

the P900 has more operating ram, hence larger apps will open a little quicker. that's the one, single, solitary performance difference between the two. bear in mind also that the newer UIQ on the P9 needs more memory to run in the first place (the reason given for it being unavailable to P8 users).

as mentioned, both have "dual processors" - one for the pda side, and another to look after the core phone functions.

Come on man don't give me sh*t!
How fast is it? 2 times, 3 times?
It's fast, but let's be serious... not that much!

Are you serious?!?!
Come on, why should apps start faster just because they have more memory?

I'm not sure in this, but I read somewhere that the p900's graphic chip has some acceleration. this would explain why movie playback is faster.

erm yes thats the purpose of RAM it allows the pc/phone to handle more information at once, therefore it is faster.

like on your pc, the more RAM u have the faster, and more efficient it will be.

what he said ^

@space2 - the P9's "accelerated graphics chip" is just a variation on the whole dual processor myth. it's fiction. the video in the P9 is faster (tho still not that great) due to a little extra memory and some software improvements; that's it. nothing's been accelerated/overclocked/doubled/turbocharged or anything else.

Hi

Let me explain to you why more ram increasea (sometimes) the speed of a PC, and why IT DOES NOT increase the speed of the phone.

PC uses virtual memory (VM), in case there is not enough ram. That means they use the hardisk to same some cotents of the memory (usually the part which they use lessfreqently).
So when a larger proeam is load, in order to fit in memory, other stuff is remoed, an stored on disk, which is sloewr, and it also requires extra operations. the bigger the program, mord hard drive activity is needed.

Phones do not have harddisk, hence they do no uae VM. when a programis loaded, there must be enough space there (not me ). If there isnt, the program is not loaded. If there is, it doesnt matter how much!

i had p800 1 year and now p900. And p900 is faster.End. It opens apps faster, doesn't hang so much when switching apps(compared with latest p800 firmware), and many more.

Its hard to compare to devices that have different OS system on it to work out which one is faster!

Think about desktop computer:

Same computer one with XP and another with ME which one is faster?

Well XP is faster because it has a better written OS. But both computers have the same internal.

About having more ram to speed up your computer is true, but thats only because it uses the Ram instead of writing to the Hard disk(thats the part that slows down the speed). Its quicker to put things in ram then to write to hard disk.

Now for the Px00 they dont have the hard disk, so it either puts it in the ram and if there is no more room, it in theory writes to the hard disk, but because there is none, we get this nice little message saying "Not enough Memory" which I have seen a few times.
