but the look of a pda is similar in both. and for people who like that look, they might consider the nokia since it has symbian as well.

I dont think so because nokia always makes better software and easier to use phones. This is true especially when you download poly and pics. I tried them all and spent plenty of money. Nokia simply the BEST. :-):-)

They don't make better software. Its just what everyone got used to. in any case, if we start talking about symbian, Nokia didn't make that one, too. Symbian was largely developed by Psion for their handheld devices. They just brought in these mobile handset manufacturers to bring in the bid money, support and exposure. too bad Psion sold they Symbian shares to Nokia.
SE's interface is by far better than anything that came out of nokia. I know because I've used nokias in the past and my gf is using a nokia. UI is simply terrible. useless grid menu. Series 60 is pure luck.

I heard that Ericsson-Sony Ericsson was going to buy some of Psion's shares so Nokia's shares won't go to 50% or higher... (If someone understands the above statement, please explain it to everyone else... I'm so tired that I can't even say something meaningful in Turkish...)

All I can say is, let Nokia keep that crappy symbian operating system. I'd go microsoft anyday.
But if we're comparing both SE and Nokia, since they both use symbian operating systems. I'd advice most people to stay clear of Nokia. They're coming out with just too many phones, most of those phones are crap. They're just releasing phones because they're desperate, not that any of those phones coming out are actually decent.
SE all the way if we're talking normal phones. But for smartphones, now that's a whole different thing

Not normally a fan of Nokia, but this phone looks pretty awesome... Not really comparable to anything SE have I think, as it runs on Series 60 - possibly compare it to the Sendo X (which has only just started shipping in Europe!!).

Nokia didn't just buy Psion's Symbian shares and start making money in the smartphone market. Series 60 is the most successful and popular UI for Symbian and it was entirely developed by Nokia. That is something you can't underestimate.
Btw. After purchasing Psion's Symbian shares, Nokia has openly encouraged other share holders (including SE) to buy more too.

Nokia is now "smart" as they have the largest range of smartphones. I believe in the coming months Nokia will release more series 60 based phones.
As more and more consumers realised the full potential of smartphone, these phones will be very desirable. With smartphone, it is you (and not the phone maker) who determine what functionality that the phone has.
