a.f.a.i.k. all t68 phones before the "i" upgrade use static memory, meaning that there is a certain amount of memory used for each part of the phone, contacts, sms, etc.

The "i" uses dynamic memory management.

But I think even that is not important since the t68 doesn't use the SIM card. You're not increasing the phone's memory, you may simply save more contacts / SMSs etc. on your card (i.e. when you "save" an sms, it is saved on the SIM).

I did run out of contact space on my sim card. Lost some entries !

i use a 64k sim card which allows storage for up to 500 contacts and i forgot how many more sms messages. i don't know if it would be the same on your 32k sim, but you can try checking this anyway.

go to the sim's menu. it's usually the first item on the phone's connectivity items menu. there should be an item on the sim menu for phonebook, or something to that effect. when you enter the phonebook menu, you can choose whether you want to use the Main or Extra memory. each one provides storage of up to 250 contacts.

i believe this is because phones are designed to handle only up to 250 contacts from the sim. therefore with my sim, you actually have two phonebooks of 250 contacts each, and have to select which one you want to use at any given time.

to tell which type of sim you have, i believe it should be printed on the sim whether it is a 32k or 64k sim. if it doesn't say anything, then i guess it's probably a 16k (or maybe even an 8k!) sim.

I'm using a 128k SIM. It has space for 750 phone numbers, but stored in three different folders. And can also store 100 messages, but kept in four different folders.
