for me i have a celular shop and i know what good and bad

NOKIA HAVE NOTHING
I HAVE USING GPRS ABOUT A YEAR but nokia they just released a nokia phone with gprs
and what it always stop and if it turned off

NOKIA MAKES HERE PHONE from plastic they easy to crash
and they only want to sell
if u see other phones example T68 have alluminuim back

and for the software inside
i prefer to use Ericsson 688 then 8310 or 6310
if u compare for that
and besides they release the same phones but with different style
but the inside the same
and what about 8850 = this phone no way good for u
because if u see it can heart ur head from his signals

"when you get the Nokia 7210 and it's exaclty the same scenario then i'll expect you to revert back to 2 tone displays as this is just part and parcel of having a colour display no matter what device it's on or who makes it. "

yes, but I dont think I made myself clear. I mean;
I dont see why displaying a clock, or the original background image would mean a drastic decrease of battery cycle. The clock does also lit up some pixels, and rather a few since its a big one:)
also, SE could get rid of this by implementing this options;

a) making the option for inserting a screensaver of your own instead of the clock
b) the option to turn everything off (all standby things & screensavers)
c) the option of going into a safe mode by still displaying the background but for example; switching to 2tones° and/or decreasing the brigthness (wich would also result in less battery needs)

2tones ° >since the backligth goes out, you wont be able to see the colors anyway, so it can better switch to 2tone mode.

"because it's a colour screen thats how they work, all colour screens have a low life expectancy if they're constantly on - which is one of the reasons computers have screen savers - and it's also why they are called 'screen' 'savers' - they are to save the screen. "

hmmmm, I really dont see a reason why a color lcd would die much earlier then a 2tone one...maybe you have an article saying this ? I dont know, but I doubt it. And for your screen saver explanation;

Maybe you didnt notice, but screensavers also "move". most screen saver do lit up the lcd ! I think lcd life expectancy will not (much) increase by using a screen-saver. The origianl idea of a screen was used with older crt screens, if 1 image would stay long on the screen , the elektrons could damage the glass and 'burn' the image into it, wich you dont really want:) so by using a screensaver, they could prevent this, because the screensaver would create moving images all the time preventing one image to burn-in.

but like I said in the first paragraph, if like you say the lifecycle of the lcd would drop dramaticly by being on all the time, they could still implement options for the screensaver mode (like my propostitions; a b and c)

DarthVader:>

yep, I know, I'm gonna have to buy a shitty phone , until the 7210 comes out...

anas :>

ok, you have a point, the 7210 a BIT larger, BUT ! it lcd is also larger then from the T68-i !!! so I would rather have a phone that is like 0.6 cm larger but also has a bigger lcd !! its 128x128 ! the T68 is like 101x80 orso, so it justifies the smaller increase in heigth of the phone.

7210 :106 x 45 x 17,5 mm
T68-i:100 x 48 x 20 mm

so as you see, the 7210 is smaller and thiner and is only 6mm higher, but thats due the larger lcd....

I know it features are not compareable with the ones the T68-i has, but, I dont use anything like

- voice recorder
- voice control
- gprs,wap,irda,bluetooth

so thats no problem for me. The thing I see as important is for starters; the lcd, the polymorphic ringtones. And hopefully it wont have a clock screensaver:)

the covers are also a nice feature.

coolfighter>

lol:)

I'm _not_ planning to buy a 8850 .... Read my post... again:p

I know Nokia doesnt have all the features and can't compare to SE , but the point is, that I don't need those feature. I care more about a good lcd and some nice polymorphic tones then all the communication options. I dont bother the extra options in my t68-i but I do bother the things like the screensaver,the bad lcd, the led...

I know Nokia crashes, it always has:) but, I would rather have a phone that crashes 1x per month , then a phone who's lcd is in save mode all the time...I know that the T68-i is a super-phone compared to Nokia, but it has some disadvantages that really bother me.

And what you say about 'plastic' , my T68-i is like 100% plastic, the 8850 was from aluminium ...

To all:>

for example, yesterday I only noticed a SMS after 3hours, the phone was lying on my desk with the clock-screensaver on, there was nothing visible. before I went to sleep, the clock screensaver was still there, but I pressed 'C' just out of curiosity, and what did I see ? a "You have a message" !!!! Sorry, but...that just did it again...so SE is expecting from that I push C every 3 hours to see if an sms has been received ??? no thanks !

i can only back you up on that one, the same thing happened to me a couple of hours ago and has been happening a few times since i've had my phones.

another annoying one is the phone buzzing when a voicemail is received while i'm in a call but not displaying anything unless i go into the menu.

and the ever annoying having to press 3 buttons to read an sms when the keypad is locked - may not be an ericsson specific fault but it's annoying never the less.

speaking of the samsung phone, like i said before now the dual screen function serves a real purpose as you can see the status of your phone without turning on the colour screen so that may be the one for you in the long run.

That's great that your waiting for a Nokia, I'm waiting to try out the 7210 too just for fun, but Nokia has it's own problems of it's own (Many of there phones do).

Although, I have to criticize and agree with you on many of these statements:

-The damn blinking led
I quite enjoy this feature, as it’s a trademark of Ericsson. Although, I do have to agree with you, that there should be an option to turn off the LED light.

- The clock screensaver
The clock screensaver is not that bright to waste much power, it’s actually barely visible. To get out of this mode, just touch your joystick and there you have it.

- The display, the colors on the display are very...low quality
On my display, it’s very nice compared to other T68’s. However, I have also heard that a lot LCD’s are different, and having it darker will save more battery. Although, I wish there was an option to set the brightness level yourself. As for the backlight, all you have to do is press any key and it’s back to the background showing you if you missed any calls or SMS messages. Also, don’t you think it’s pretty obvious when the backlight goes out, you’re not going to see much? You can leave the backlight on if you want too (Easy to turn on in the options). However, two-tone displays will always have advantage with the backlight off, simply because it’s two-tone.

- The screensaver
I don’t find it useless, it’s actually quite enjoyable, especially with animated screensavers and people take notice of it quickly

- Messy software
I would blame outlook for those problems. I have no problems transferring images, ringtones, or themes via bluetooth or IR (Not one crash). However, I did have a few crashes with crappy outlook express, and I wish they made this software completely separate from Microsoft.

- I dont have a "real button" to show the profile
What exactly are you trying to do here? Speed dial? The option is there, it works fine. I don’t think it’s in the manual, but it’s on the forum.

- options
So why did you buy a $500 USD phone in the first place if you don’t consider using these options? There are plenty of Nokia's out there for you to use and for far cheaper price.

These phones are getting more advanced, and everyone here assumes the 7210 is going to be BUG free? Hah! You can expect the battery to not last long on the 7210 though, especially with the current state of Nokia batteries, they are really crappy. Nokia is having problems, and I don't expect much out of the 7210 at the moment.

The T68 pretty much sets a standard on how these color phones should be built since it's the first on the market. Battery lasts for incredibly long periods of times, small, easy to use, nice look and stylish, blue tooth, triband, IR port, and a cool joystick. So it’s to be expected that companies are going to try to dish out better phones than the T68i.

Also,
Take a look at the Samsung V100,

http://www.gsmarena.com/index.php3?sRedir=http://www.gsmarena.com/phone.php3?idPhone=314

Also looks quite nice, and an MPEG4, MP3 decoder 65k colors + tri-band
But don’t expect the battery to last long on this one too, lol.

"- The clock screensaver

well, that is the problem ! I dont want to push the joystick every hour to see any misted calls/smses ... I could learn to live with the fact that it doenst show the desktop but only the clock (ok, its for saving battery, so why not..afterall) but since I noticed that it also shows the screensaver (after 20 mins orso) when you have misted calls/ sms'es , well that just did it. I dont want to be slave of my phone and touch it ever hour if you see what I mean, I just want to quick look at it so I can see any misted calls /smses (like you do with every other phone) btw; you can compae it with a watch where you have to push a button every time you want to see the hour ...

And your asking for the reason why I bougth this phone if I dont use it features ;

well, as you read, my previous was a 8850 , so I was looking for a phone wit atleast the same functions, so also the possibility for hooking up a datacable and changing everything (ringtones,backgrounds, logos...) I also wanted a phone that would look as stylish as the 8850 and also as small as the 8850. The only phone I could find that matched these parameters was the T68i and it was better on every aspect...also the price wasnt that expensive (compared with the feature it has). There was also the 8210 but is has a very crappy display and is crappier then the 8850. The 8310 doesnt look stylisch to me (much worse then the 8210) and I couldnt wait for the 7210...

to conclude; I know that the 7210 wil very likely be worser then the T68i, but I just want to know it for sure, and if it is, I'll probably buy the 8910 or maybe another phone with a ordinary screen. Until ericsson fixes this display shit I'm no longer interested in it.
