i would like this because all my work information and records is in MS excel, although the stock viewer lets you scroll through excel docs, you can't use the features. i borrowed an XDA 2, and on this device it was much better for me. being able to search as you can in windows i find time saving.

the casing should be made of magnesium alloy, not plastic. (sony mz-n10 owners will understand) ;-) This message was posted from a P900

I agree with everyone, that the P900 should have more of everything, and more new features like Wi-Fi..

..but what i really hope is, and these are two of the reasons i sold my P900, they increase the size of the stylus (bigger than your average toothpick to a more professional PDA size) and build the whole phone more solid. My P900 creaked like a rusty gate when i pressed hard on the case.

Maybe Nokia 8910i style titanium ?

Greetings all

As much as I love my P900, there is still more that SE needs to address with the proposed P1000.

First off, NO Windows Mobile or whatever! I hope they stay with Symbian UIQ. It's small, efficient, fast, and very stable. None of these adjectives apply to the Windows Mobile edition.

One serious weakness the P900 suffers from is how the most important built-in organizer apps behave. Calendar, Messages, Jotter, Contacts and others, all default to their very starting point if you switch to any other app for a second.

Suppose you're in the middle of writing an email and wanted to copy and paste a little info from another app. You go back to your email and the Messaging app takes you to the very begining, to the Accounts list! You will then have to open the account, go to the Drafts menu, find your email, and get to where you were. Or maybe you're editing a contact, or a Calendar entry, and had to switch to the Phone log to copy a number or something. When you get back to Contacts it takes you to the very beginning top of the list. Sad, but very true ...

This annoying behavior is sadly consistent in all the major apps. To my knowledge, as much as we like to bash it, Nokia's 6600 does not suffer from this silly amnesiac behavior. In fact, you can edit something with the 6600, switch to another app, and get back to exactly where you left off.

I really hope SE fixes all this with the next major or minor update. That and definitely more system RAM. Maybe 32 or 64, as Opera or the Picture viewer/editor seem to take more than half of what's there. I'm not really concerned much about the camera or a qwerty keyboard, but it should have at least a 1-1.3 MP camera and maybe WiFi.

@ Bigfeat

Seriously? Which area was this shop in? What phone did you get? So if you leave Japan with the phone and return, say 4 months later, can the prepaid credit still be used?

I have to say after coming back from Japan two weeks ago I couldn't believe I could buy a pre-paid vodophone clamshell with a 2-megapixel camera for a little over $100USD. The Foma and AU 3G series phones had the whole package with built in videophone, dual-cameras, GPS with full screen display, 200K plus colors, mem stick pro compatible, all under $400 USD. I didn't seem like the Japanese version of SE phones sold that well at all. I did find a P900 inside an import shop there that was selling for about $900. I can't imagine that they could sell that many knowing that Japanese travelers can take certain Japanese phone models with GSM/WCDMA (ie Vodophone V-801SH) capabilities abroad.

first of all: NO MICROSHAFT OS ON PXXXX!! should SE include smth else than UIQ as OS, it will definitelly lose its closest customers. why not speed up uiq apps using a, lets say, 400Mhz proc, whilst Win mobile would just barely start breathing @ this processing speed. then, they say memory is expensive... hmm, sure it is, but sony is producing it.and anyway pxxx is expensive, little memory jus cant be justified by cost cut either way. then on, it.s sad that i barely have time to use all that.s there on my p800,although i.m a tech freak.
my pick would be (i wonder if this isnt the secret afterall) faster and better common apps, better and robust common hardware. all those awesome features mean sh** if u dont build a robust, agile and user-friendly machine. i like my phone to be packed-up with features, but i miss the good-ol "phone" interface the t68i had ie. work on these aspects and then u.ll have a real smartphone. i repeat: my p800 i so cool, i does so much, it has this and that, it soooooo versatile, expandable and configrable, but yet i cant really say it.s @ my fingertips, completely obedient and at my service. know what im saying? ever had this feeling?
