i'm sorry for the rather obvious and possibly patronising suggestion - but could it by something like your finger being a little too close to the bottom of the camera lens causing the discolouration? I've often stuck my finger in the way of the lens!
I know fingers aren't purple, but perhaps your finger/sleeve etc. is just close enough to cause a discolouration?

Not sure if there's anything they can do about that purpleish glow, though. You could try adjusting the colour balance using an image editor.
