Mine shows all unlocked with the number 5 next to each. What does that mean? Is my phone unlocked? This post was posted from a T68i

If you buy your phone as a standalone, it will be unlocked. And no, a provider cannot lock your phone by using their SIM card.
The lock is there so you don't get the phone cheap from one provider, then use it with another. By buying it standalone, you avoid the whole issue.

I found some information in this forum about unlocking a T68, doesn't look easy, or cheap if you want to do a one off.

Got it on Friday (07/12) I'm wondering if I rushed in to it, I really wanted the silver aluminum colour, but they only had the anodized black so got that, still it looks really nice and if you check out the launch presentation at www.ban-olufsen.com you can hear the weird ringtone, I like it.

Regarding Voicestream, I had my t68 for less than a month before travelling from the USA to canada and needing to use my Candadian SIM. I called Voicestream and the customer service rep told me that if I told her it was an emergency she could practically guarantee that I would get the unlock code within 24 hours. Within 2 hours I received an SMS telling me to call voicestream for the code. AT&T might be holdimg more people hostage because their GSM rollout is so new, but Voicestream is pretty accomodating.
