From what I have been reading elsewhere this is simply down to the battery and will rectify itself once the battery has been recharged fully after several uses.

It might or might not be so, but what is it about this specific battery that would make it so much better after plenty of charges than the few first ones? It's the same kind of battery that's been around for a while now, and with other phones there are very small differences after a series of charges compared to the first one.

I am not so sure about this "super-boost" after having done a series of charges. Read my earlier post in this thread and you'll see my opinion in what the problem actually is.

When reading my earlier post remember that those people who claims that the battery is so much better after several charges might in fact have started to play play around less with the phones menus without even thinking about it and therefore they might think it's the battery that's "super-boosted" now!

You can't use a MP3 as an SMS alert tone, and the reason why the WAV files probably didn't work is because they were probably over the 16kHz maximum sample rate that is allowed to play on a K700

Did someone ever think of the fact that the battery actually drains only when playing around in the menus etc and that just about everything is very much faster with this phone than earlier models?

Leave the phone on for a week without playing around in menus and you'll see that the battery is fine! You can even use the radio for a long time without draining the battery if you don't keep using the menus (for changing stations etc all the time).

yes i think youll find this is whats known as "standby" doesnt exactly take a genius to work out that the big bright high resolution colour screen being off uses a shitload less power.....does it?

u should still have to really go some to need 3 charges in 3 days though, i would say with heavy use it should still last 3-4 days on a single charge unless you have a faulty phone or battery. sony stats give 300 hours standby (thats 12.5 days non stop) and 7 hours talktime. So you can work out for yourselves that theres no way the phone battery isnt going to last at least a few days unless its faulty.

When choosing to send an email to a contacts email address stored in the phone you can't use the keys to go to a contacts first name (i.e. press twice on key #5 to go the first contact that starts with 'K' etc).

Pressing twice on key #5 the phone goes to the first contact that starts with 'T' for some strange reason...

@ Ewok

More CPU-power uses more energy. Less CPU-power uses less energy. Pretty basic, eh? This phone is so fast it drains the battery when using menus etc. It's not the screen that drains it, not the radio, not making phone calls. The battery is simply to low in capacity!
