@ Orangeman - yes I contacted Orange disconnections direct because I wanted to do a deal with them so I went through everything they offered me very carefully. The representative I spoke to couldn't have been more helpful in spite of my 50 questions about what I was agreeing to! I've also had a lot of companies ringing me on my Orange phone wanting me to upgrade through them. I don't deal with them. One company yesterday even had a machine ringing me and introducing itself!!??! I've always been very happy in my dealings with Orange when I've rung them for anything, this upgrade included. Orange are there to make money just like any other business, so the deal has to be fair to both sides, I'm fine with that.

I didn't get my K700 from Orange because I wanted a sim-free one that hadn't had the UI changed in any way. Also I like to put local French sim cards in when I'm in France, which I am a few times a year. But I'm happy with the Orange service other than than the UI problem, always have been.

I have no problems with orange upgrades, just received a brilliant K700i from them this morning and right when they said it would come, and no insurance hassle, I think it was just your bad day?!?!?

Originally they rang me, and it probably wasn't Orange, as they didn't know what handset I had already. This was probably the 3rd or 4th time since I had completed my first 10 months on it. The final time, I asked her what the benefits of 'downgrading' would be, as I knew they wouldn't offer me an upgrade to a P900. She talked me through a couple of handsets and the features they gave, explaining how I could give it to a friend etc. I said I'd check the Orange web site and leave it for now.

A few days later I picked a free handset upgrade from the orange web site and submitted their online form. The next day, Tracy from Orange (I presume) called me back to confirm it was free, my eligability, etc.

I must admit, I've sung the praises of them to my friends and colleagues many times over the years, it's just that this one bad experience has shown them to be absolutely unmoving. Whoever "Tracy" is in their upgrades department, she doesn't phone back when shit hits the fan.

Ring Orange and make a complaint about the DEALER. They will tell you which dealer it was and can forward your concerns.

We have to deal with this day in & day out. Not all dealers do as they should. As already suggested it is your responsibily to read &/or under stand the term 'upgrade'
