I have noticed that the connection between my PC and P800 is intermittent when I connect the DSS-20 through a PCMCIA card USB adapter and a USB hub. The connection is stable when I connect the DSS-20 directly to a USB port on my computer.

I downloaded the USB Drivers for Sync Station DSS from the SE site and that fixed the serial USB problem under XP PRO. I also downloaded this file Sync_1.2.9.1b (25.1mb) I removed the installation files from of the original SE CD and then installed the drivers I mentioned above and still no luck The phone is connected to the USB port and I got a clear green lite on the DSS 25 which shows the moby is connected. If I try and run the launcher the options synchronise and sync stations settings are greyed out.

I will try a reboot and see what happens. B.T.W do you need to install the stuff of the SE CD or are the drivers(Sync_1.2.9.1b) enough on their own as they are 25.1 meg but it seems to install too quick as though it has only installed a small part of the program and this is beginning to wind me up somewhat and no doubt other members who have the same problem as me Still happy to be a proud member of this great forum I found my accident, and I find you are very helpfull in trying to solve problems for me, WELL DONE EVERYBODY. We are allmost there I just need the pc and the fone to talk with each other

Cheers

Shane

hmm I extracted all the files from the Sync_1.2.9.1b setup and guess what the Capability Manager gives the error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid the same happens with the install for the Mobile Phone Monitor. The only file that works is the Sony Ericsson Sync Station but as the 1st two programs have something wrong with them then this must be the reason I am having problems. Is there a newer version out? I will download the file again as I am on a 1meg dsl line so it doesnt take too long

@guys, I was able to make the dss-20 and my k700i to work in just 5 minutes although my aim was for the online upgrade, the procedures are the same

-make sure the dss-20/25 has been recognized by windows and installed properly.
-note in device manager the com port assigned to it.
-go to control panel check mobile phone monitor options and make sure the com port assigned to the dss-20/25 is enabled.

One thing I noticed it's easier to get a stable connection (faster transfer rate at that) using FMA. The only odd thing was when I try to transfer an unknown file e.g .sis, FMA wont accept it but Phone Manager does and puts it in the Others folder..hope this helps!

In reference to masseur's earlier post, this was the 1st time I installed se software coz I've always used FMA and

Hi people,

thanks for the great talk through but my Sync STation STILL wont recognise my k700i.

It seems so intermittent, sometimes after ages of sitting in the dock, the icon pops up in my system tray saying it recognises the phone, then it dissapears again.

The other day after installing it via the above guide it seemed to work a-ok.... then all of a sudden it decided not to work... then it decided to work again for afew minutes.

Then, when it appears to work, i use the file manager to browse the file structure of the phone and i sometimes get into a folder e.g 'Pictures' and then it says 'Unexpected error - unable to connect'. sometime i get error when i just try to connect to the phone when it says it's connected up.

Any ideas? I've about had enough of this damn phone! It could be so amazing if Orange hadn't of just destroyed it !

Cheers,

Gav

I'm getting this problem, any ideas on how to fix it?

Could it be a Firewall problem?

I was having the same problem with my k700i and my new DSS-25 after downloading all the right drivers from SE. I did two things, but I believe it was the second that fixed my problem.

1. I downloaded and installed a recent driver patch from the DaVinci Team at http://www.davinciteam.com/dss-25.zip

2. I reconfigured the settings on my Mobile Phone Monitor (which was installed with the original SE software on the CD) on the COM Ports tab to enable searching on some additional Ports (6 & 7 because that seemed to be the ports getting assigned to my USB connection).

Everything seems to be working fine now.
