I think he means RAM not a HHD, which is wrong in a because when RAM loses power it clears all info, but with memory sticks this does not happen!

well i'm certainly gonna buy the 512mb stick, which is about 200$ here but i saw that the new ones by sandisk are 100$ in america so if i'm short on money i can still order one from america, but the 1gb stick is 950$ here at least the sony original which i saw in a store a little while a go but i guess you could find one for lets say 300$ if you searched, anyway i'm not really interested in the 1gb stick i mean i know pro supports it but you don't need to go to the limits, i mean one 512mb stick is still 4x bigger than what we have in our p*00 and i'm quite happy with that.....

Well you can't compare 512Mb och 1024Mb memory with a computers memory. Since it's not ram in the phone, it's just for storage.
Someone said that you would need these larger MSD for a 1 MP phone... why? That is just silly thinking.
When all you need is 256 for a 3-6 MP camera.
I noticed that 256Mb for a 6 MP camera was enough.
1024Mb ram is not much. I got 2048Mb in both my computers. RAM is cheap, MSD is not.

Even harddrives are cheap compared to an msd.

I am a bit puzzeled here... You guys are talking about 1gig memory for storage of 1MP pictures. Does any of you realize how many pictures that is? I've got a 8MP camera with a 512MB CF card. If I switch it down to 1MP pics I have storage space for 801 pictures. Ie; 1gig would give me room for just under 1600 pictures! Why on earth would you want to store that amount of pictures in your phones? 1gig is more memory than what the vast majority of us will ever get close to be in need of! Mp3s included!

True that it's a lot of memory by today's standards, but how long until 2, 3 and greater MP cameras are out on phones? If you go out with friends you can easily snap up 20 shots. Some might be bad, but still worth hanging onto (just to show off the bad ones, if nothing else).
If the cameras start getting better you can add video. That'll definately suck up the memory. There's definately potential (remember 640K being enough ram).

@khaosspawn
The 640K quote was about harddrives. Not about RAM. Large difference there.
1 Gig is way too much even for a 6MP cam which you can record with. You wont use that in a night. And we wont see that in our mobiles in the near future.

Your battery wont hold to play 1 gig mp3. My battery wouldn't make 110Mb of .ogg! I have tried it a few times.
256Mb is enough... 512Kb is ok. 1 Gb is a bit too much. Though I would love to put all my books on it.
Yes, I am addicted to books!
