Another problem I am having is that when I am able to connect to Floats Mobile Agent, I can only send files from my mobile to the pc and not from pc to mobile phone. And also, it always disconnects, saying that my phone has disconnected or is out of range. What does that mean? HELP! ANYONE PLEASE!

Also it disconnects after a short while, as if it's running out of power or something. I have tried all the usb ports on my computer, I have 2 on the motherboard and a PCI to usb thingy which has 4. I only use 2 usb ports, 1 for my adsl modem and 1 for the stupid usb data cable. Any suggestions as to why the cable doesn't work?

Hi everyone!
I've got similar problem with my T630. I've bought a USB>serial cable, installed pl2303 (tried few versions of it). In device manager I can find: under USB section "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port", under ports "USB to Serial Port (COM2)". But my computer doesn't seem to like my mobile - not detected in Phone Monitor Options, fAMA couldn't connect... I can't get that sh*t working, even with
this post.
Oh, and I'm using Win Me, if that's important =P
Anyone knows what should I do (besides buying IrDA or BT

)?

All I can say is I can get it to work (whether it's DCU-11, aftermarket USB cable, or serial cable with a seperate USB-serial adapter) under Win98 and 2000 on several computers. If the adapter shows up as a valid COM under device manager with no yellow exclamation mark, the driver install is successful and it should be working.
Most people fail to set the COM speed to 9600. You MUST set the COM port speed to 9600. Older Ericsson branded models do not have this requirement.
For a cable that works only some of the time, I would say the cable is bad. Or the contacts on the cable/phone are dirty.

i didn't have to change com speeds, and i too have gotten my cable to work on multiple operating systems.
the problem with the drivers that the ebay-dodgy-cable sellers are supplying is that it's the most general driver you can get and wasn't working with my operating system. here's what you should do if you haven't already:
1. remove all dud drivers.
2. download current drivers from here:
http://tech.prolific.com.tw/visitor/v_filebrw_result.asp
note - make sure you get the correct driver for your operating system. downloading the xp driver when you're running 98/2000 isn't going to work. they have the 98/2000 driver there, just scroll through or use the search engine they've supplied on that page.
3. download 'float's mobile agent' from here:
http://fma.sourceforge.net/index2.htm
this program is designed for T610, but i can vouch that it works for T630, and i've heard that it works for a whole bunch of other phones, too. if fma can't connect, you've still got a driver problem. check that the current driver (i.e. from the link i've supplied, that is if you're using dcu-11)
if fma cannot connect, the driver i've supplied is the wrong one, your usb port isn't working properly (try testing it with any other device), or some other software issue is preventing the connection. 95% of the time, though, it will be a driver problem.

I am still having problems ith my cable. Under my ports it says "prolific USB-to-Serial Bridge". Is that the right name? And also, when sending files from my phone to the PC, it works but when I try to send files from my PC to the phone, it starts transfering but than stops. Anyone know why?

yes, it's fine. and I wonder how you can send file from phone to PC.
Also the phone will only accept files that are of the right format. So if it's a picture, it has to be of the right file type and dimension.... depending on phone models.

At least your drivers are working. I can't get drivers working for me. I have the dcu-11 cable, at least thats whats on the cable. I tried drivers from the se site, from profilic, and the drivers given my the store. When I plug my cable in, windows sees it has USB-Serial controller. Is this normal? Someone with the same cable told me that windows sees the cable as USB device. Same operating system, xp pro. Any help please? Thanks in advance
P.S. I already have a thread about this but no one replied.

I have a K700i and I have problems with my cable too. I can get the driver working, and it sees my phone but once I click on any of the files on my phone it says an unexpected error has occured and chucks me out. I can't think what else to do. I have tried everything. Mine also charges when I flick it to the charge mode. Grrrr. ANY ideas???
