dunno bout the p9 but the p8 light aint 2 bad. i remember the old /// lights, especially the T29, that could light up a whole room! even turning it up upside down didnt help, it just reflected off the surface. All it would take is one little menu command: Service light -> On/off. Come on SE after all your years of experience, you can pioneer colour screens, mms etc, but you couldnt think of that?!

It sounds silly but the light can be annoying, especially when your phone is your alarm clock and its beside your bed and your trying to sleep! The p900 light is 100 times worse than the p800 I HATE it! :{

At night I just turn it over anyway as the Blue light lights up the whole room.

You could always keep it on charge forever, that'll stop the flashing.
