If you're a Mac user you don't need drivers to use any Bluetooth adapters - you just plug it in and off you go.

If you're a Windows user you have to install the drivers supplied with the adapter, then configure the driver to communicate over a 'virtual' COM port Finally the software you want to use can use the BT adapter to connect to the phone.

I'm not sure about Windows XPs supposed in-built Bluetooth support...

From what I have read, XP BT support is only for keyboards and mice. It does not have the phone functionalities.

XP SP2 worked fine with my phone software - both SE software and Float use it fine!

If you want a cheap dongle try the store MAPLINS. I bought one from there with cd software and it was pretty cheap - cant remember how much.

Windows XP is pretty easy to configure Bluetooth software over network connections -

Class 1 dongles tend to have a higher range then class 2.

On ebay i picked up a 10m dongle for only £13 (Including Delivery !)
I also found a 100m dongle for only £17

Definately worth a look as they are quality !

I got a 'generic' one (China made) last April 2004 . . . The dongle just works fine, never had a problem with it since then, considering that I've been using it almost on a daily basis, transferring of datas (images/mp3s/themes/games/videos) from my PC to my fone ! It just cost me around US$ 58.00 mates!
