@vlamm you are right no need to evacuate here I do have a fridge full of water and beer so rideing out the storm should be ok. However I am 2 D cell batteries short for my radio and every store is sold out so @add if you have a spare set could you try to throw them into the eye of the hurricane and I will try to catch them when they get my way.

@friscosjoke - You should get one of those wind-up radios! I've got one - potentially very useful if you have no batteries and the power's out.

However, I'm not sure how much call I'll have for the wind-up function at the moment, living in the UK means that the very worst I'll have to ride out is a particularly heavy rain shower!

The weather's very boring where I live, but I guess that's preferable to having my house blown to bits by hurricanes!

just kidding about no need to evacuate. Looks like the storm shifted and is comeing right for us. everyone who was comeing to our party took off for maimi or other out of the way places. I found some batteries though. Its not the hurricane that worries me its all the freaken tornodoes!

last year i was in the caribbean at this time and we had to moor up at spanishtown because of a hurricane. The great thing was that it never came, so we ended up wasting about 4 days in harbor waiting out a tropical storm that disappeared.

Yeah I figured something like that would happen here too.but it is not looking that way. We do have a kite and a couple of skateboards so we may "parasail" around the complex before things get too bad. there is always an upside

when I lived in Maine we had an ice storm that covered everything in a couple inches of ice. It was one of the most beautiful things I've seen. Plus we had a month off of school due to no power.
