Yes, I briefly described what it is in an earlier post & yes unbranded phones have it.

Previously the O2 K700s did not have it but now baddie_JCN has a K700 on O2 that does have it!
So what I mean is does the phone baddie_JCN has have any branding, and hence O2 have added it, or is it just an unbranded handset?

For reference, here's the K700i menu for an o2 branded phone (firmware R2A041). Left shows the main menu with the o2 icon, and the right shows the messages menu without the "My Friends".

One thing I have noticed on a branded O2 K700i is that when you select Send from the menu it has four options (As picture msg, As email, Via Bluetooth and Via infrared) whereas a guy in my office got a K700i from singlepoint on O2 and his is unbranded and doesn't have the "As picture msg" option. I think as far as brading goes, O2 are pretty decent and even helpful by including the "As picture msg" option!

I really feel sorry for those with Vodafone, you guys have been cheated out of a great phone!!!

I'd just check that one actually.
I'm sure the unbranded one has the ability to send items as a Multimedia Message, that's part of the whole idea behind "Quickshare".
It maybe say "MMS" rather than "Picture Message"

Does anyone know if you can turn MP3's on an o2 branded phone into ringtones?

Its blocked on Voda and Orange, to force people to download them from the 'Official' sites.

Welcome to Esato

Yes mate you can use MP3 ringtones on an O2 K700.
You also can on an Orange K700.
Only Vodafone have taken the liberty of disabling this feature.

Is it worth getting on o2? I was going to get a Virgin one, as it hasn't any customised firmware. But I've heard that o2 phones are unlocked.

O2 ones are unlocked, as are ALL O2 handsets, & the O2 K700 had minimal branding as I have already mentioned in this thread.

I'm surprised if Virgin have the K700! They tend to only get phones 6months or more after release!

Yes, its £249 with £30 of airtime, so its a tempting deal.
